Cyberstorage: Stopping Ransomware at the Heart of the Enterprise

Eric Bednash, PDG de RackTop Systems, présente le cyberstockage, une catégorie définie par Gartner, comme une réponse centrée sur les données au rançongiciel et à la menace interne. Les marchés de la sécurité et du stockage, nés tous deux dans les années 1990, ne se sont jamais rejoints : les outils de périmètre (pare-feu, IDS/IPS, postes, MFA, MDR) règlent des problèmes de « portes et fenêtres », tandis que le stockage de fichiers et d'objets optimise l'utilité sans rien savoir du comportement des utilisateurs. Résultat : 80 à 90 % des actifs numériques dorment sur des systèmes « bêtes », un paradis pour les pirates. Environ 3 % des dépenses en cybersécurité vont à la sécurité des données, et les fournisseurs de sauvegarde ont accaparé le discours sur les rançongiciels malgré des restaurations lentes et incomplètes. Avec une analogie hospitalière inspirée de la série ER, il oppose un stockage de 1994 à « confiance aveugle » à un système qui évalue le comportement, l'appareil, l'horaire et les habitudes d'accès à chaque requête, bloque un seul utilisateur plutôt que tout le partage, et couvre les cinq fonctions du cadre NIST. Une démo de la plateforme BrickStor montre un rançongiciel bloqué et corrigé en temps réel. Deux messages : passer de l'extérieur vers l'intérieur, et intégrer la sécurité au stockage dès la conception.

A passion-driven entrepreneur and innovator, Bednash brings to his position more than 20 years of experience in the cybersecurity sector, where he designed specialized data security products for the U.S. Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, and commercial enterprises. Bednash co-founded RackTop in 2010 with a simple vision – to enable any organization to protect their data as if it were a national secret. Through his leadership and inventions, he has led the creation of a platform to arm companies with a simplified solution to the most complex Enterprise data protection challenges. RackTop’s technology has been leveraged by numerous organizations spanning a wide variety of global industries – notably in government, energy, financial services, healthcare, higher education, media/advertising, and entertainment. Prior to 2010, Bednash served as co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Ross Technologies, a mid-sized consulting firm in the Government IT services space focused on developing mission data systems for the U.S. government and held numerous technical leadership roles as a contractor within the National Security industry. He started his professional career specializing in data center systems for Time-Warner Corporation and spent the better part of the dot-com boom in Washington, D.C., where he consulted businesses on the new and expanding internet era.
